i know @panlight has talked about this frequently, but I still can’t believe smeyer didn’t have bella and esme talk about their respective relationships with edward and carlisle and how they met. edbella and carlesme have so many similarities/parallels. esme and bella both met their soulmates while they were still human. they were both dazzled by carlisle and edward, and then carlisle and edward both left them, to keep them safe (although, at the time, carlisle wasn’t in love with esme yet because she was only 16; he probably just wanted companionship so badly and esme was the first person to actually *see* him and listen to him). and in the end, edward and carlisle both “returned” to them and the two women became vamps. another thing that confirms that smeyer drinks dumb bitch juice is that carlisle and edward never talked about the fact that edward leaving bella would turn out to be a bad idea. i mean, maybe they did talk, but we’ll never know because we didn’t get new moon from ed’s perspective, but you’d think carlisle would be like edward, my boy, my son, my best friend, leaving bella will only turn out to be a really fucking Bad Idea. carlisle must feel guilty that he left esme because her human life turned out to be painful, heartbreaking, and sad. by that example, bella’s “normal” human life that edward wanted her to have could also turn tragic. anyways, I love how twilight fans know the characters better than their own creator 🤪
